IT cost control

Correctly determine the benefits of IT with IT controlling (IT controlling 2/3)

If you only focus on the costs when looking at IT services, it is difficult to assess the extent to which corporate IT supports business activities and thus contributes to the company's success. Rather, comprehensive IT controlling is required. A simple example: running a mail server generates costs. But to whom do you assign them, considering that no business activity is possible without e-mail communication?

IT controlling and technology business management: transparent IT costs and services

TBM thus shows the contribution of the individual IT services to added value. Businesses can use it to make better-informed decisions about their IT. Smaller companies in particular often do not collect enough data, ie IT costs, IT key figures for operation and information about the mutual dependencies of IT services.

TBM is teamwork

IT cannot manage the systematic collection of all necessary technical, organizational and commercial information on its own. The definition of the importance of an IT system for operations, the exact requirements in terms of availability and performance, and the benefits for users can only be determined in a team - including definitions of the individual IT services and determination of priorities. If everyone involved has a common understanding of IT and is talking about the same thing, it ultimately saves a lot of resources, time and frustration.
